Public Room

Public Room is a civil society organization based in Skopje, Macedonia, established 2007. In 2015 the organization has established a youth center in the heart of Skopje which is visited by over 100.000 youngsters on annual level, mainly generation Z, for cultural and creative experience, studying, working, fun. Public Room nowadays is synonym for a free co working youth space, a gallery space, a performing arts space, concerts and activities related to the creative and cultural industries. Throughout the years of existence Public Room has designed and performed over 400 creative and cultural national and international projects, among which the most popular on national and international level are: 

  • Skopje Design Week – annual festival of design and creativity, cooperating actively with international partner festivals 
  • “My second day” – national campaign for women’s menstrual and reproduction health, organized with various women protection civil society organizations
  • “Beautify Skopje” – national campaign for cleaner and better public spaces and reduction of air pollution in Skopje, designed and executed together with 5 high schools and their students 
  • Balkan Design Network – a network of Balkan design festivals which came under one umbrella organization to coordinate the design scene, exchange, development and global positioning of the brand of Balkan design. 

Orutindo

ORUTINDO is a non-profit organisation. Its name when translated means ‘bridge’, and matches perfectly with the organisation’s goal: strengthening bridges between (young) people of different backgrounds, countries, continents, age groups and cultures. While putting in mind that meeting people and having personal contacts enriches us and breaks down our negative stereotypes. Because of the belief that the world has become “smaller” but more diverse through globalization, combined with the need to exchange with and to learn and know more about our neighbours in neighboring countries, continents are becoming of utmost need. One of the important ways to solve global issues the world is facing today, like endless wars, climate change and discrimination of minority groups, can be achieved collectively. Orutindo believes that, through creating bridges that connect us and bring us in contact, we can learn to solve the global challenges by believing that TOGETHER, WE ARE STRONGER.

Art Okarina

NGO ART OCARINA is an association established to support art and culture among young people, there have been numerous successful collaborations with artists and students from the country and abroad.  

Since the organization involves collaboration and inclusion of young people up to the age of 25, special emphasis is placed on youth education, as well as on utilizing and discovering innovative learning methods. The association carries out activities aimed at developing and deepening the abilities of children and young people to foster creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.

The association’s role in connecting young artists from different ethnic communities through activities in the field of arts and the organization of workshops is of particular importance is. Thus, young people gain insight into the similarities and differences among various ethnic cultures while using the rich ethnic diversity as a powerful tool for artistic expression and for building bridges and friendships among themselves.

Various events are organized within the association, including art exhibitions, book promotions, music concerts, competitions, collaborations with other organizations, and humanitarian concerts, with young people up to the age of 25 as primary target group. Within the association, we also have a wonderful choir, with choristers from 12 to 22 years old, which has won many international awards.

LDA Struga

The Local Development Agency-Struga (LDA) was established in January 2004 and is known as an independent, non-government and professional actor in the southwest region in Macedonia. Within 21 years of existence LDA has implemented over 60 projects within 5 programs. Projects were
supported by European Union, UN agencies, GIZ, SDC, SIDA and various embassies. From the very beginning, LDA implements proactive approach that involves the cooperation and participation of public institutions, communities and businesses in realization of the project activities.

LDA Struga is a dedicated organization that places a strong emphasis on nurturing youth leadership and providing life-changing opportunities for young people in Macedonia. Our multifaceted program is designed to empower and enrich the lives of local youth in various ways. One of the organizations key initiatives is to offer opportunities for international experiences and volunteerism. Each year, local young individuals are presented with numerous chances to engage in exchanges and training
programs across Europe. Through initiatives like the Youth in Action Programme, they not only develop new friendships but also gain valuable insights into the cultures and customs of other European Union countries. LDA Struga’s Cross-Border Programme fosters regional cooperation,
helping young people from the Balkans forge bonds and collaborate on projects, contributing to good neighborly relations.

The team behind LDA, has practice in project management, implementation of local and regional projects, conducting capacity building programs and workshops and also has developed networks with grass root groups. LDA for the purposes of a different community projects conducted numerous researches, surveys, awareness-raising campaigns, public events, panel discussions, debates, focus groups, workshops and trainings for the citizens and local communities.
